August 2024 - We are so happy to announce that our dearest member, our research assistant, Karen Lucía García Ramírez, won First Place in the Social Category in the Lo Mejor de la Juventud 2024 awards of the Municipal Council of San Quintín. We celebrate with Karen since part of this award was obtained for her participation in the Emotions&Care project. We also take this opportunity to congratulate the entire team behind this great project. Congrats to Karen, Pedro, Armando, Sherlyn, and Diego! June 2024 - Dr. Caro completed a research stay at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), hosted by the Advanced Interactive Tools Research Group, with Dr. Javier Gomez Escribano as the host researcher. We thank Dr. Gomez Escribano and the UAM for their attention and hope to continue strengthening our research collaborations.
May 2024 - Our amazing Emotions&Care team won first place in the UABC CIMATANK Competition in the technological entrepreneurship category at the Ensenada campus. Congrats to Armando, Pedro, Karen, Sherlyn, and Diego!
April 2024 - We are so happy to announce that our dearest member, our research assistant, Pedro David Guevara Rodriguez, was accepted into the Delfin Program to do a summer research stay at the University of Guadalajara working on the project "Exploring Gamification, virtual assistants for improving the English Language," under the supervision of Dr. Mónica Ramírez Mata. We wish Pedro the best of success in this adventure; learn and enjoy a lot!
March 2024 - To celebrate International Women's Day, March 8th, 2024, our lab, together with the Academic group Behavior and Technological Sciences (Ciencias Tecnológicas y del Comportamiento) from UABC, created a series of videos to share UABC students' experiences with science and technology. You can see the videos here. Thanks to Orquidea, Juan, and Adolfo Jr. for helping with the creation and edition of the videos!
February 2024—To celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, February 11th, 2024, our lab, together with the Academic groups Behavior and Technological Sciences (Ciencias Tecnológicas y del Comportamiento) and Communication and Daily Life (Comunicación y Vida Cotidiana) from UABC, asked the students from UABC to nominate a woman researcher to make visible the work of the fantastic women researchers from UABC. January 2024 — The Tech4Good Research Lab was honored to receive Yussy Chinchay and Cristina Alonso for a research stay. Their activities included discussing their research and attending a seminar on analyzing the profiles of university students with ASD. October 2023 - Dr. Caro co-supervised (with Prof. Eva Olivia Martínez) four magnificent students from the bachelor's program in informatics, Genesis, David, Hugo, and Randy, to participate in the National Marathon in informatics knowledge, celebrated in Mexico City. The team found itself in the top 10 nationally. Congratulations team!
September 2023 - Pedro, Mayra, and Zahid presented our paper "Emotions&Care: Designing a Mobile App for Supporting Depression of College Students" at the Workshop on Medical Informatics for Health and Wellbeing (IMSaBi 2023) held in conjunction with the Mexican International Conference in Computer Science (ENC 2023). Congrats to our multidisciplinary team!
August 2023 - Dr. Caro gave the talk "Development of technologies for health, education, and well-being: a multidisciplinary approach" (Desarrollo de tecnologías para la salud, educación y bienestar: un enfoque multidisciplinario) as a part of the second cycle of videoconferences of technologies for the health of the Faculty of Health of the Autonomous University of Baja California (Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud - UABC).
June 2023 - Jessica Cordova's master project won First Place in the 10th National Award for Projects for Obtaining a Bachelor's and Graduate Academic Degree from the National Association of Accounting and Administration Faculties and Schools (ANFECA) Zone 1 (10mo Premio Nacional de Proyectos Terminales para la Obtención de Licenciatura y Grado Académico de Posgrado de la Asociación Nacional de Facultades y Escuelas de Contaduría y Administración (ANFECA) Zona 1. June 2023—We are glad to announce that this summer, our lab received seven excellent students from around the country for a summer research stay as part of the Delfin Program. December 2021 - Dr. Caro was nominated for the Academic Merit Award 2021 from the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC), the most significant award that a researcher/professor can receive inside the university. September 2021 - Dr. Caro was accepted to participate as a Young Researcher in the 8th Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF). She was Chosen from over 900 applicants through an international, scientific selection process. The 8th HLF was held on September 20–23, 2021. See the program here.
